Als
u de oude nationale weg van
 RethymnonBij de splitsing naar Maroulas, is de kleine Kerk genaamd naar de Heilige Nektarios, naast deze Kerk is de taverna van Stratos Soubasakis en zijn vrouw Alexandra die uit Nederland komt. |

De
laatste jaren, zijn er veel kleine appartementen complexen in Tsesmes gebouwd, zowel op de weg naar Maroulas als op de weg naar Arkadi.
Vanaf hier is het een korte wandeling naar Platanias en naar het strand, en aan de andere kant is de omgeving hier veel rustiger dan beneden in het meer toeristische gedeelte. |

Stratos
en Alexandra zijn er in geslaagd om zich naar de wensen van hun gasten in te stellen.
Hun spijskaart omvat niet alleen griekse en "internationale" gerechten, maar ook specialiteiten uit Nederland, Groot Britanië, Duitsland en andere landen. |

O.a.
hebben ze elke Zaterdag Indiase Curry met kip.
Deze unieke keuken trekt niet alleen toeristen aan vanuit de hele omgeving maar ook Europianen die zich gevestigd hebben in Rethymnon en niet meer elke dag alleen Gyros of Souflaki willen eten. |

Bij Stratos en Alexandra vind u een gemengd gezelschap van Kretanen en nieuwkomers tezamen met toeristen van over de hele wereld die praten over het land en tips uitwisselen waar te winkelen en wat zijn de mooiste excursies, daarbij drinken ze een Ouzo of Raki met een "Meze" (een bordje met verschillende snacks), wat voor de Kretaan een locale gewoonte is. | |||

Het
kan zo zijn dat u als toerist niet zo vaak naar het strand gaat dan u gepland had, en daar voor in de plaats de keuze maakt om de atmosfeer te proeven bij Stratos en Alexandra waar alle nationaliteiten en generaties gezellig bij elkaar komen.
